Ranch house at Matador.	The Flying V cattle brand was purchased by Fred C. Koch in the early 1950s.	The ranch headquarters, here circa 1953, is a stone house that lies east of a spring-fed lake, overlooking the corrals and barns.
Matador Ranch raises most of the horses used on the ranch; some are sold via special sales or through private treaty.	In 1952, Fred C. Koch, co-founder of what has become Koch Industries, Inc., formed Matador Cattle Company.	Akaushi cattle is prized for their marbling and taste.
